Nick Helm
Nick is a BAFTA nominated and British Comedy Award winning writer, broadcaster, actor and comedian known for his hilarious one liners, poems, songs and stories.
He is probably best known for his starring role in BBC Three’s 3-season comedy ‘Uncle’ for which he was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award in 2016 for Best Comedy Performance. He also starred as ‘Lemon’ alongside Romesh Ranganathan in Sky’s ‘The Reluctant Landlord’ and as ‘Watto’ in Channel 4’s comedy hit ‘Loaded’ about four friends who become multi-millionaires overnight. He also hosted his own comedy show on BBC Three, ‘Nick Helm’s Heavy Entertainment’.
He appeared in the films including ‘Giddy Stratospheres’, ‘Venice at Dawn’ and ‘Love Spreads’ which premiered at the TriBeca Film Festival. He also appeared in series 2 of the Sky One hit comedy series from David Schwimmer & Nick Mohammed ‘Intelligence’. He had a role in series 2 of the hilarious BBC One Wales comedy mockumentary ‘Tourist Trap’ which stars Sally Phillips trying to sell Wales as a tourist destination to the world.
Nick directed, starred in and co-wrote ‘Elephant’; a BBC online short film as part of the ‘Funny Valentines’ series on BBC iPlayer. The short was so successful that the BBC extended its availability online and it was subsequently selected to be screened at the BFI’s London Film Festival 2015. The film was then nominated for a BAFTA for Best British Short Film. ‘The Girl In The Dress’, a short starring Nick, was also selected by BFI for the 2015 London Film Festival.
He is currently on tour with his new 2024 show ‘Super Fun Good Time Show’, after previously touring the UK with a number of critically acclaimed shows, and numerous Edinburgh Festival runs.
Nick also filmed and starred in his own food travelogue show, ‘Eat Your Heart Out with Nick Helm’, which launched on Dave in 2017 to critical acclaim. He appears regularly on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ and has also had appearances in ‘Celebrity Mastermind’ and ‘The Crystal Maze’.
Nick has won numerous comedy awards throughout his career including the 2014 South Bank Sky Arts Award, The 2014 Times Breakthrough Award as well as Best Breakthrough Act at the 2014 British Comedy Awards. In 2015 he won Best Music and Variety Artist at the Chortle Awards.
He has released two studio albums; ‘Hot ‘n’ Heavy’ and ‘Nick Helm is F*cking Amazing’, with the latter receiving a large album launch at The O2 Forum in Spring 2016. He has also released two live album recordings of his 2010 show Keep Hold of the Gold and his 2011 show Dare to Dream as well as a soundtrack album featuring the songs he wrote for Uncle.
